Animal Body

I discovered this album from Loraine James’ recent Dekmantel Podcast in which she played Dynamics of subway, which is such a good track. It was released back in 2012 on Zankyo Records from Japan.

I’m not really sure how to describe it but one of the Bandcamp comments called it Japanese math rock. It definitely has a lot of different rock elements from alternative to post-rock however it also contains many softer elements across the album with an elegant piano and Japanese vocals gracing the majority of the tracks. It strikes a nice balance between complex and simple elements that are equally beautiful.

It’s introspective and expansive and reminds me of the crispness of an autumn day. There’s so much to love on this album from its calmness to its intensity, so I’d highly recommend.
