Artist Focus

A contribution I made to the Artist Focus series over at Melodic Distraction.

Jimmy Campbell was a very under-appreciated talent from the thriving Mersey scene during the '60s and '70s. Described as the ‘era’s lost songwriter’, he gained a lot of admiration from many of his contemporaries, though he never quite managed to push through to mainstream success.

A man with a lost legacy, he’s rarely considered when it comes to discussing the musical talent Liverpool has produced over the last half century, despite his songwriting being on par with some of the best. This episode takes a journey across his life and work, from his band supporting The Beatles in the early 60’s to his exploratory solo work in later life.
