Marcel Sletten

This is a self-titled EP from Marcel Sletten who runs and founded the label Primordial Void which this was released on. The four tracks are quite lush and feel rather spiritual and expansive. There’s a lot of interesting sounds on here from folk to ambient to drone. They all mesh together to create these different soundscapes which transport you to various places.

Sletten describes it as ‘Zen Americana’ and it’s inspired by his travels throughout Northern California. The details make it more immersive and sort of tie in with my impressions of Northern California as a sort of bright warm place but also calming and mellow.

I would highly recommend you take a listen it’s quite different from any else I’ve listened to. It feels like he infuses a lot of different influences, and I’m excited to see what he releases in the future by himself and on Primordial Void.
