This is a book of Edward Lear’s poetry in the style of
literary nonsense which is something he created or popularised.
I picked this up among a little haul of those Penguin Little Black Classics, not knowing anything about Lear. From what I’ve seen this book gets quite the mix of reviews but oddly I kind of enjoyed it. Despite it basically being nonsense it’s kind of colourful and just a nice quick read. It gives you vivid imagery and feels like a Dr Seuss book or something similar.
I’d recommend it however don’t expect too much because at the end of the day it is just nonsense.
