Jana Rush

This is the long-time-coming debut album from Jana Rush released back in 2017 on Objects Limited. DJing since the age of 10, releasing her first record in 1996 and having a decade-long hiatus from 2000 to 2013, Rush is back with something intense and multidimensional. It’s rooted in a myriad of influences from footwork, jungle, acid, soul, jazz and so much more.

The mind bending rhythms go deep, with a charm to them that’s hard to beat. There’s an ambience that washes over the fast-paced tracks drawing them back into something that feels relaxing yet swift. It transitions into more chopped up frequencies keeping you hooked the whole time with such a vast range of elements. The pulse of the record goes anywhere from fragmented bass, cracking snares, jumpy hats and abrasive samples.

Rush has had quite the history around some incredible artists such as DJ Rashad, Paul Johnson and DJ Deeon and this record demonstrates how she’s taken those influences and made them into something that transcends genre. Every track explores a new realm and it’s very exciting to listen to.
