Promises

Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & London Symphony Orchestra

It’s rare that something that sounds incredible on the surface is as good as the expectations garnered by it. I, like many others, probably had very high expectations for this project after finding out about the names involved. However, I’m so glad to write that it exceeds all my expectations. I was speechless the first time I listened to it. The album is a stunning mix of electronic, jazz and classical, comprising of nine movements which flow together as one track flawlessly.

Promises begins by instantly taking over your body with its soothing tones allowing you to detach from everything. It then gently carries you on a journey through emotional bliss as you transcend to a place you aren’t currently.

I can’t stop listening to this album. It feels like a long meditation traversing through a diverse array of emotions, inducing different ones each time I listen. The strings are otherworldly and the sax sweeps you into the best dream you’ve ever had. It’s hard not to say that this is a masterpiece, Floating Points is a genius. It’s like an out-of-body experience where you’re floating in infinite space with no cares in the world.

This album is one of pure beauty which permeates right down into your soul. There is no question as to whether you should listen to this album, it’s personal, emotional and all you could ever ask for.
